Hiya Bellistik here! It's another Zombie Zunday and I've just come across some Zombie news.
Eight years after the release of 28
Weeks Later, (the sequel to 28 Days Later) Alex Garland has come up
with an idea for the next sequel, 28 Months Later. As he's not too
fond of sequels he's discussing his concept with Danny Boyle and
Andrew Macdonald for the third film and once again, just like 28
Weeks Later, he won't be writing the screenplay.
28 Days Later, was written by Alex
Garland, directed by Danny Boyle and produced by Andrew Macdonald in
2002. Animal rights activists break into a lab to release chimpanzees
which have been tested on in the name of medical research. However,
they are unaware that not only are they releasing chimps, they're
releasing the Rage virus. 28 days later, Jim wakes from a coma into a
deserted city and people have become zombie-like infected with Rage.
In 2007 a sequel was released but as
Alex Garland isn't crazy about sequels he passed on the writing of
the screenplay and was executive producer instead. In the sequel, 28
Weeks Later, the US army declares the danger of the Rage virus on the
British Isles has past as the whole population has been annihilated.
However, the Rage virus isn't gone and this time, it's worse.
I'm intrigued as to what Garland's idea
for 28 Months Later is, but I guess we'll have to wait and see!
Catch you next time
Bellistik
So that's about 2 and a third years later. Hope they also make a 28 years later sequel :3
