The Walking Dead's Most Shocking Moments

The Walking Dead TV show has has some really shocking and some really screwed up moments. Here are my most shocking moments.

WARNING: This post has some MAJOR spoilers for The Walking Dead. If you have not seen it you have been warned.

5)  A Grimey Moment in Cold Blood

A cannibalistic group of rebels has the group in sights. Making the cannibals think they have left a smaller group behind, they go in for the kill. A clever trap has the cannibals surrounded. The group decides it's best to kill them and Rick lets all his anger loose, brutally murdering the leader in cold blood. Its a moment you realise Rick is starting to lose the plot.

4) Deadly Childbirth

With zombies loose in the prison, heavily pregnant Lori runs with Maggie. Unable to continue as labour begins Lori asks Maggie to perform an emergency C Section. Unfortunately the child birth takes Loris life. Knowing that she will turn, Carl takes the responsibility to shoot his mum when she turns. The beginning of a life, and the end of another at the hands of her son.

3) A Family Reunion Denied

Beth has been trapped in a hospital trying to work off her rescue for some time. Noah, a friend she makes inside manages to escape and finds the main group. They come to rescue her. After thinking she is dead for some time, Maggie, Beth's sister is robbed of her chances to see her again as a shocking twist ends with Dawn, the leader of the hospital group accidentally shooting Beth in the head.

2) Right Under Your Nose

The whole of season two is based around the group trying to find Sophia. They have maps, they are crossing off areas as they expand out from the farm further and further. The group realise that Hershel is holding a load of zombies in the barn and break it open. They start shooting one after the other into the zombies. Hershel still believes all these people are his friends and family and is devastated at the carnage. After all the shooting ends one more zombie slowly emerges from the barn and Sophia is revealed. Suddenly everyone is in complete shock. The scene gives a moment where the group suddenly realise how Hershel felt.

1) Lizzie the Kiddie Killer

This has to be the most shocking and screwed up moment in the whole of The Walking Dead. Lizzie had been defending the walkers for some time and had a belief they are still the same people. She was left alone with her younger sister Mika and baby Judith while Carol and Tyreese went for supplies. Upon return, Carol and Tyreese find a blood soaked Lizzie stood over Mika and Judith with a knife in hand. To prove her theory that they are just like us, she had killed her little sister and was about to give the same fate to Judith.

Look at the flowers Lizzie....

I would love to know if you would put a scene in the top five so leave a comment below. You can also find us on Facebook and find me on Twitter.

Fear The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead was first, a graphic novel, written by Robert Kirkman and Illustrated by Tony Moore. It follows Rick Grimes and his family as they survive a zombie apocalypse.

In 2010, The Walking Dead received the 2010 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series at San Diego Comic-Con International. It was also adapted into a TV series, loosely based on the comic book series.

The Walking Dead TV series has become highly successful, with 5.35 million viewers on it's very first episode to 17 million viewers tuning in for the premiere of season 5.

With it's high popularity, The Walking Dead has also been adapted into a video game

...But wait! There's more!

There are also Webisodes which are a series of short videos which tell the back story of some of the characters seen on the TV series, including the back story of Hannah, the half torso Zombie Rick stumbles upon in season 1.

...And if you thought that was all, then you're in for a treat because there's still more!

Coming in 2015 is “Fear of the Walking Dead”. Set in Los Angeles we follow a divorced teacher, Sean Cabrera (Cliff Curtis) and a guidance counselor who is a single mum of 2 and is said to be the girl next door with an edge Nancy Tomkins (Kim Dickens) along with others in a kind-of prequel set just as the zombie apocalypse began. We'll see how humanity handled the epidemic and perhaps discover how it started. Get ready for it's release in July this year!

Secure your doors and barricade your windows! The Walking Dead are taking over... well, maybe just the entertainment industry.

Sweet Dreams

8 Years Later

Hiya Bellistik here! It's another Zombie Zunday and I've just come across some Zombie news.

Eight years after the release of 28 Weeks Later, (the sequel to 28 Days Later) Alex Garland has come up with an idea for the next sequel, 28 Months Later. As he's not too fond of sequels he's discussing his concept with Danny Boyle and Andrew Macdonald for the third film and once again, just like 28 Weeks Later, he won't be writing the screenplay.

28 Days Later, was written by Alex Garland, directed by Danny Boyle and produced by Andrew Macdonald in 2002. Animal rights activists break into a lab to release chimpanzees which have been tested on in the name of medical research. However, they are unaware that not only are they releasing chimps, they're releasing the Rage virus. 28 days later, Jim wakes from a coma into a deserted city and people have become zombie-like infected with Rage.

In 2007 a sequel was released but as Alex Garland isn't crazy about sequels he passed on the writing of the screenplay and was executive producer instead. In the sequel, 28 Weeks Later, the US army declares the danger of the Rage virus on the British Isles has past as the whole population has been annihilated. However, the Rage virus isn't gone and this time, it's worse.

I'm intrigued as to what Garland's idea for 28 Months Later is, but I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Catch you next time

Could Zombies Become Reality?

Hey guys SighFye here

Today is Zombie Zunday and I thought I would look into whether or not a zombie apocalypse could happen. So first we need to see how zombies come about.

Return of the Living Dead (1985)

In the return of the living dead, two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies. The infection spreads by being bitten by another zombie.

Likelihood: Not possible at all. For this one to happen the dead must walk and to be honest this is not possible. Dead people do not get up and walk around. Okay for the sake of the believers out there lets give this one a 1% chance

So for any movie where the dead actually rise we will skip them. But lets not count out the ones where a virus kills the host and then reanimates them. After all, the host dies in order for the virus to take control. I could see a possibility in this. To me that is not the dead rising but the transition from host control to virus control.

I am Legend

Now, I am Legend is a different story. This one technically isn't zombies but the concept is the same. In I am Legend a genetically re-engineered measles virus, originally created as a cure for cancer, mutates into a lethal strain which kills 90 percent of those it infected, and turns the remaining 10% into predatory, nocturnal "Darkseekers" who are vulnerable to sunlight. The infection is spread through air or contact.

Likelihood: Well for me, this one is going into a more likely side of things. The infected are not dead and do not rise from the dead. Scientists are always screwing around with things they shouldn't be and have on many occasions fucked up.

28 Days Later

This one lies in the same boat as I am Legend. The infected are not dead and nor do they rise from the dead. In 28 Days Later, three activists break into a medical research laboratory with the intent of freeing captive chimpanzees. They are interrupted by a scientist who desperately warns that the chimps are infected with "Rage," a highly contagious rage-inducing virus that is spread through blood and saliva. Ignoring the scientist, the activists release a chimpanzee, who attacks one of them and immediately infects her, leading her to infect everyone else present

Likelihood: What country would not want a super soldier. A soldier that will be able to fight longer, faster and hard than any normal human. I would not be surprised if these experiments have already started and even been underway for years. Rage is a very strong emotion which can push a human beyond their normal physiological means. So if a rage virus was ever created we could see a 28 Days Later style zombie apocalypse.

Zombie movies these days are leaning away from the dead rising from their graves and are more leaning to a virus which takes control of the human body. If we look at zombies as less of dead people walking around and more of a virus infected population, then a zombie outbreak could definitely happen.

Do you believe a Zombie apocalypse could happen?

Zombie Zunday - Yet Another Zombie Defense (2014)

In honour of the new Zombie Zunday tradition SighFye has started, I decided to play a game I bought several months ago on steam. Yet another Zombie Defense first grabbed my attention for having a multiplayer top-down shooter defence style of gameplay, but the more I played it, the more I liked the singleplayer survival experience for the challenge it provides.

I've always been a fan of zombie games that pit you against constant waves of enemies and charges you with the task of surviving as long as possible. Dead Rising on the Xbox 360 was the first game I found that did it well, but you had to complete the main story once in order to unlock the survival mode first. This game ups the anty a little bit by emptying the playing field completely. It's just you and a single lamp post, against the zombie horde, in the middle of an empty expanse of darkness.

Anyone got a flashlight? :/
During the night, you are tasked with defending yourself against the undead. Once a wave of zombies is completed, the game transitions to daytime and you have an unlimited amount of time to purchase weapons & ammo and fortify your base by adding barricades or turrets. Once you have purchased everything you require to survive another night defending against the undead, you select next level to continue.

Back off, undead scum!
I thought this was an odd design choice at first because it removes the difficulty of having a limited amount of time for both defending and fortifying. Later in the game, something occurred to me that made some sense of that particular feature.  The fortifications seem to carry over damage from round to round if left in place between rounds. However if you remove all the erected fortifications and rebuild them, from the ground up, they are replaced at full health, allowing you to effectively repair your fortifications and also letting you spend a decent amount of time deciding on the best strategy in laying out your base to provide the best defence.

Put the electric fences on the outside! :D
Since Yet Another Zombie Defense does not have a definitive end, as such, I decided before I started playing that unlocking the "Endless Night" mode by making it past the seventh night would qualify as "finishing" the game for the purposes of the blog.

With the recent additions of player upgrades and better turrets, I was able to survive until the 17th night. Unfortunately at the end of the 16th night, the zombies had become strong enough to overwhelm my barricades before my turrets could eradicate them and ultimately I wore down all of my remaining ammo. Going into the 17th night, I was unable to purchase enough ammo for either the SMG turrets or my Shotgun to last long enough to finish off the zombies.

Lasted a lot longer than the last time I tried to play this game.
I briefly tried the multi-player mode, but it was disappointing. Both players share ammo and currency with the turrets, so I frequently had players join and then spend all the money I had saved up for a blaster on fortifications immediately. I feel like either seperating the money and ammo counts for each player or making both players decide on purchases would be a nice addition.

I feel that money is quite sparse throughout the singleplayer survival experience too as it's extremely easy to run out of money and the amount of money gained each round and the amount of damage done by weapons you carry over doesn't balance well with the increase in zombie difficulty per round. This could be a design flaw, or done on purpose to make sure the game can end without the player continuing indefinitely, but either way it seems a little unbalanced at the moment.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed Yet Another Zombie Defense as a survival game and, as long as you were playing with friends, I could see the multi-player mode being fun too. Since it's currently on sale for 49 cents each or 79 cents for a two-pack, I would highly recommend to grab it quickly before the sale runs out in about 26 hours.

Zombie Zunday: SighFyes Top 3 Zombie Games

Hey guys SighFye here.

I have decided to take a page out of Lloyd's book and start a new series. I will be starting a few of them over the following week but today I will begin Zombie Zunday. Every Sunday I will write something about zombies. As a start I thought I would write my top 3 zombie games of all time.

Number 3: Dead Nation

Dead Nation is a top down shooter developed by Housemarque and Climax Studios on the PS3. It's a fast pace game with hordes after hordes of zombies coming from all directions. You have a wide arsenal of weapons to buy and upgrade from a head popping rifle with unlimited ammo, a shocker which send bolts of electricity through hordes of the undead, to my personal favourite, the blade cannon. This weapon fires a saw blade through the horde killing whole groups in one shot.

Each kill gives the player cash and multiplier. Each time you get hit your multiplier goes down which directly effects your overall score. The cash collected is spent on much needed upgrades, armour and ammo refills at the end of each stage.

The graphics are great and at times this game can get rather intense with the amount of zombies racing to get you.

Number 2: 7 Days To Die

My second top 3 game is a game that's currently in alpha. 7 Days to Die is an open world voxel-base sandbox game. You are dropped into either a randomly generated world or a premade world. You must scavenge for items and food to help you survive in this creepy world. This game is a mash up between DayZ and Minecraft. You can mine, farm, hunt, survive, craft weapons and items, build bases and fortify them against the zombie hordes.

The crafting system is very in depth and has many recipes. A lot of recipes must be found in books found in the game before you can even start building those items. There is a leveling system which increases the chance to craft higher quality weapons and items. You must eat and drink to survive. Zombie can see, hear and even smell you.

The best part of this game for me is that every single room in every single building can be entered. The ambient sounds in this game are creepy and the night time is scary. This is a must try game if you love zombie survivals.

Number 1: The Last Of Us

The last of us is by far my favourite zombie game of all time. This game is made by Naughty Dog for the PS3. The story is an emotion roller coaster ride. The story is about a Joel who must deliver Ellie to a safe place. You must pass through zombie infected areas and groups of rebels who have no regard for people outside their group and will kill you for the can of beans in your bag or just because they don't like you.

This game has you sneaking passed zombies with pressing the controller so slightly that if you press it too hard the zombie will hear you and attack. It is so freaky and gets the heart racing. The story also has twist after twist which just pulls at the heart strings. This game will shock the shit out of you.

Brilliant story, brilliant graphics and, brilliant gameplay. This is not only my number one zombie game but also sits as my number one game of all time. Get it, play it and love it. I so hope they make a number 2 of this.

Surviving 7 Days To Die: First Steps

Hey Guys SighFye here.

Recently I have got myself into a new game in alpha called 7 Days To Die. Today I am going to teach you how to survive.

When you first spawn you will have 1 can of food, 1 jar of water and a few other things so you don't need to worry about food and water yet. You need to get a tool and a weapon, so lets do that now.

The first thing you need to do when you spawn is build yourself a stone axe. This stone axe is a multi-tool. Its great for everything. Digging, chopping, killing, building. This will be your basic survival tool until you find all the replacements. The recipe to build a stone axe is as follows.

So that's 1 stick, 1 plant fibers, and 1 sharp stone in this pattern. So lets collect these parts. First we'll look at the stick. There are two ways to get sticks but the easiest to start would be to punch a plant... literally. You will need to punch them a few times to break the plant.

There are other ways to get stick which are far easier later on but this is the best way at the start.

The next thing we need is plant fibers. This time we are going to punch grass for a while. It's so realistic. Punching grass equals collecting grass. Don't just grab it and rip it out. lol. Now the grass you need to punch is not the green textured floor. Its the blades of grass stood up and blowing in the wind.

The grass you collect will need to be crafted into plant fibers. This is done like this...
The recipe only requires 1 grass but I always craft all my grass into plant fibers. I haven't found any other use for grass.

The last part of the puzzle is a sharpened stone. You need to first collect a stone. My game play requires always picking up stones so whenever you pass them, pick them up. I don't go out of my way to get them, I just get the ones in my path.
To turn the stone into a sharp stone just throw them into your crafting table at the center.

You now have all the parts for the stone axe. The next thing I always make is a crossbow. The recipe is as follows.
You will also need crossbow bolts. That recipe is...
You only need 1 of each item to get 1 crossbow bolt. Okay so we need A LOT more sticks, A LOT more sharp stones, 2 plant fibers and a new item, feathers.

The only way to get sharp stone, at this stage in the game is to keep collecting stone. This is why I keep collect them as I ALWAYS need crossbow bolts. Collect the stones as you pass them while we do the rest of the recipe.

Your stone axe will make quick work of breaking plants and grass to collect those parts but you really don't want to take that long. Grass you have no choice but you don't need much. The stick, lets look at a faster way. You need to collect wood. You can get this two ways. You can use your stone axe to chop down a tree. Be warned, when the tree falls it will attract zombies to that location.

This can then be crafted into wood planks.
Then craft these wood planks into sticks like so...
If you are near a river there is a quicker and safer way to make sticks. Walking down the river you will find aged wood. Collect as much as this as you can.
This aged wood can be made into planks too.

This is much quieter and quick to get. Next is to find feathers.

Feathers can be found in rubbish piles or birds nest. I always love birds nest as you have a high chance to find both feathers and eggs. You also get much higher amounts of feathers.

Now make your crossbow and crossbow bolts. You are now ready to start killing zombies. To aim the crossbow, right click and place the red dot on the zombies head. ALWAYS aim for the head. This is my favourite weapon as it silent and kills all zombies with 1 shot if hitting the head. Stealth is everything.

Aiming while to stealth mode, use the eye pupil as your red dot.

Now remember to always collect stones and feathers. These are your main items for ammo.

The next post will show scavenging techniques, collecting food, water and being safe from nightfall.

Until Then, stay safe.

Dead Run, Living Play!

Here guys SighFye here.

I just wanted to let you guys know about this mobile app I have made for Android. Its called Dead Run and its yet another zombie shooting game. Dead Run is a top down shooter. You run down the road while zombies try to catch you, collect coins and spend those coins on much needed upgrades.

The game first started as a TAFE project while I was studying my CERT 4 in IT (Programming). The task was to create a functioning mobile app. I was paired with Jackson Tempra and since we were both programmers before taking the course we decided to run with it and make a game. Jackson has since removed himself from production for unknown reasons but Dead Run lives on.

Here are a few screenshots of the game...
Main Menu

Weapons To Buy And Upgrade

Secondaries to distract zombies
World Wide Top Ten
We have zombies of course

And Sumo zombies

But watch out, they explode!!

If you like killing zombies or just wanna kill time, Dead Run is great for both. Be aware there is a zombie I have not shown here. Enjoy.

Check it out on Google Play
